Sikh Wedding Dress Guide for Women
For the Sikh Wedding Ceremony, we recommend semi-formal Indian attire. Please see examples of Indian clothing for women on the left. The key difference between the attire for the Sangeet and the Sikh Wedding is that the attire for the Sikh Wedding should be more modest as the reference images suggest with higher necklines and less skin showing. Additionally, your outfit needs to be comfortable enough to sit down on the floor for the ceremony. Our ballroom floor will be covered for guests to comfortably sit with some chairs in the back for our elderly guests who are unable to sit on the floor.
Guests will need to cover their heads for the duration of the ceremony. Certain Indian outfits come with a dupatta or scarf which will function well for this purpose but if guest do not have a dupatta, we will provide head scarves prior to the ceremony.
For guests who are looking to shop for Indian attire, common styles worn at a Sikh Wedding include lehengas, sharara suits, Punjabi suits, and anarkali suits.
If guests prefer to wear Western clothing, any semiformal attire that is modest and comfortable for guests to sit on the floor is welcome. Examples include trousers with blouses or jumpsuits.
Sikh Wedding Dress Guide for Men
For men, we recommend semi-formal Indian or Western attire. Please see examples of Indian clothing for men on the left. If guests prefer to wear Western clothing, any semiformal attire such as suits or blazers with trousers is welcome.
For guests who are looking to shop for Indian attire, common styles worn at a Sikh Wedding include kurta pajamas, half jackets (which can be worn on top of a regular dress shirt and pants as well), sherwanis, and Jodhpuri suits.
